In the last few hours, the Cartagena authorities they carried out operations to protect children and adolescents who were allegedly being exploited in the city.

The first of them was called Plan Zoé + Protección and was carried out this Friday in the Manga neighborhood, where the Metropolitan Police captured two women known as Melany” and Jordianis, from Venezuela.
According to the institution’s report, they were allegedly instrumentalizing two minors, one 4 months old and the other 2 years old, to ask for money in restaurants and traffic lights in the sector.
After carrying out the investigations, they verified that these women were begging in the company of minors, for which they carried out the capture for exploitation of minors.
Police officers for Children and Adolescents provided protection to the two minors, putting them under police protection Family for the restoration of their rights.
According to official figures from the police institution, in the course of this year, a total of 138 children and adolescents have been placed under the protection of the Family Police Station.
Captures in 2023 and operation this Saturday

They are accompanied by officials from the Colombian Institute for Family Welfare (ICBF) and the Family Ombudsman’s Office. In addition, 10 people have been captured for the crime of exploitation of minors.
While in the operation this Saturday, directed in the early hours of the morning by the Mayor of Cartagena in the Historic Center, they were rescued three girlswith ages of 6, 9 and 12 years), all of Venezuelan nationality.
Also two male adolescents and one pregnant female, aged 14, 15 and 16), from Venezuela. Additionally, they captured four adults with the same nationality.
The authorities invited to denounce
The 6-year-old girl was taken to a community mothers home and a teenager was made available to the Police for Children and Adolescents.

In this case, a team of more than 50 officials took to the streets of the Center to work for the vindication of the rights of children who have been exploited by adults, to expose them to begging.
With the messages “Your money condemns you” and “Begging is trafficking”, the authorities invited locals and tourists to report this type of incident to lines 141 of the ICBF; 123, from the Police; and 3022972963; of the Children’s Patrol.
