From early hours of the morning there were clashes between the ESMAD and peasants in the village of Los Pozos, department of Caquetá. The authorities reported a dead policeman, who was attached to the Neiva Metropolitan Police, 7 kidnapped uniformed officers and 8 wounded.
While there is also talk of a dead farmer and several wounded. Following this situation, the President of the Republic, Gustavo Petro, spoke out and pointed out that a delegation from the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of the Interior are heading to the area to attend to the situation in this region of Caquetá.
In turn, the president indicated that he gave the order to stop the acts of violence. “At this moment a commission from the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of the Interior and the Military Forces is leaving to attend to the situation of Pozos in San Vicente del Caguan. I have ordered the acts of violence to stop.” wrote the president on his Twitter account.
Regarding the uniformed officer who died in these events, he was identified as Ricardo Arley Monroy Prieto, 39, who was attached to the Neiva Metropolitan Police. The uniformed man lived in the capital of Huilense, was married and had two children, including a baby only two months old.
