The President of the Republic, Gustavo Petro, confirmed the departure of the Minister of Education, Alejandro Gaviria, and the Minister of Sports, María Isabel Urrutia.
“We are at a decisive moment for our reforms and we need more cohesion and determination. I call for the National Agreement, for all political forces including the opposition, unions, community associations, social organizations and each of the Colombians to help build this country with debate and proposals,” he said. Petro.
It must be taken into account that in the case of Alejandro Gaviria, on several occasions he had expressed that he did not agree with the health reform that was filed a few days ago in Congress.
On the other hand, the president also confirmed the replacements in these two portfolios.
“I have decided to appoint Aurora Vergara as Minister of Education and Astrid Rodríguez as Minister of Sports; so that with new energies they can culminate the process of reforms begun. We will continue to seek consensus and agreements to consolidate and deepen our reforms. My cabinet and I as President of the Republic remain committed to bringing out not only the reforms, but reforms that substantially improve the lives of all Colombians,” Petro continued in his statement.
Similarly, the Minister of Culture, Patricia Ariza, also leaves the cabinet.
