Through a statement, the Colombian Geological Service confirmed that the level of activity in the Nevado del Huila Volcano continues to be yellow. The bulletin published by the entity indicates that between January 23 and 30 the following events were recorded:
- During the evaluated period, the seismic activity continued showing a stable behavior. 382 seismic events were recorded, of which 146 were associated with rock fracturing processes (VT type) and 236 with fluid dynamics in volcanic conduits.
- The images obtained during the week through the Tafxnú, Caloto, Maravillas and La Palma web cameras showed low levels of outgassing in the system.
- Sensors for monitoring ground deformation, magnetic fields, and infrasound waves did not record variations associated with changes in volcanic activity.
“It is concluded from the above, that during the period evaluated the volcano continued to present a stable behavior. The Colombian Geological Service continues to monitor the evolution of the volcanic phenomenon and will report in a timely manner any changes that may occur.” ends the statement that is addressed to the governor of Cauca Elías Carabalí and the governor of Huila, Luis Enrique Dussán.
